Duration: Full day walk.

Directions: From A3(M) take A27 to Emsworth turn-off, then A259 through Emsworth. In ½ mile turn right (signed MoD) into Thorney Road and park on the left in Thornham Lane.

Habitat:  Long 6 mile walk round island, on variable paths which can be muddy. Report at MOD security gate (no advanced warning needed). Walking on firm paths along harbour edge. Can be muddy.

Attractions: Waders and ducks in Chichester Harbour. Wheatears and whinchats in fields. Many egrets, buzzards, possibly owls in winter. Raptors over grassland, including Ospreys in autumn. In winter estuary and grassland birds including waders, ducks and divers in harbour. Deeps good all year.

Amenities: No facilities. Toilets in Emsworth town centre.

Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for conditions on the day which can be subject to change at any time. You will be expected to use the walk in such a way as not to place yourselves or others at risk and to follow all requirements set by the walk leader.

This is the longest walk in the programme which can be strenuous in poor weather.
